Jan started sailing very early with his cousin in smaller racing boats. 1980 Jan and Jannette bought the Aagtje (a groninger tjalk). 1990 the Aagtje was refitted as a charter boat and Jan and Jannette sailed with her from 1991 till 2001. 2001 Jan and Jannette bought the Eenhoorn (a zeeuwse klipper) and sailed with her till 2005 2006 Jan and family bought the Tecla |

Most amazing sailing expirience: "32 years ago i went on a sailing trip with my cousin through Holland in a ‘ Valkje’ . Cousin Arjan and I sailed past Utrecht, Haarlem and other cities like that. Even now I think about that a lot, so it must have had a great impact on me." Most amazing Tecla expirience: "On board the Tecla we sail as much as possible, entering a harbour on sail is part of that. Once we sailed into the harbour of Harlingen, wind was 6 bfr. With mainsail and foresail we sailed into the sheltered harbour. Just around the corner we turned the ship into the wind and both sails went down. That felt amazing." |
